- What is a DVD?
A DVD is very similar to a CD, but it has a much larger data capacity. A standard DVD holds about seven times more data than a CD does. This huge capacity means that a DVD has enough room to store a full-length, MPEG-2-encoded movie, as well as a lot of other information.
Here are the typical contents of a DVD movie:
- Up to 133 minutes of high-resolution video
- Soundtrack with up to eight languages using 5.1 channel Dolby digital surround sound
- Subtitles in up to 32 languages
- What are the different DVD formats available?
A DVD can have up to two sides and up to two layers offering four possible read-only formats plus recordable and rewritable formats:
- DVD-5 4.7GB 1 1 Read from one side only
- DVD-9 8.54GB 2 1 Read from one side only
- DVD-10 9.4GB 1 2 Read from both sides

| CD/DVD Duplication, Replication & Packaging |
- Replicate or duplicate?
Some of the factors influencing that decision are:
a. Quantity of the project.
b. Number of project masters.
c. Number of copies you need
d. How often will project code change.
In General, with the recent downturn in replication prices, if a project is the same master and requires more than 1000 pieces, it is probably most cost effective to have the project replicated. The added advantage of replication is it also includes quality silk screening to each piece giving it a store bought appearance. However, each project is different and in some cases duplicating the project is the better solution.
If you have a project that requires less than 1000 pieces or has many different masters, then the most cost effective method is to have the project duplicated. With duplication, you can dupe as few of each master as needed. With the recent advances in blank media surfaces and media printers, it is now possible to print quality graphics onto the surface of the blank media. You can also have the blank media silk-screened prior to duplication. If you have a project that will require code changes after so many copies are released, then duplication is they way to go because you can control the exact quantity that you produce. With replication, typical runs are a minimum of a 1000 pieces.
Contact us or request a quote online and let our experienced staff help you decide which method is the best way for you to produce your project. If replication or duplication is the answer to successfully completing your project, we have the equipment and experience to get the job done.
- What type of master formats do you accept?
We accept CD-R for CD duplication or replication, DVD-R and DLT for DVD-5 duplication or replication, and DLT only for DVD-9 replication. DLT is only required when you want to put CSS encryption on your DVD to prevent from illegal copies being made. If you do not have the equipment for DLT output, we will be glad to do it for you.
- What kind of packaging options do I have?
For CD packaging, we offer Slim Jewel Case /Trimpack, Standard Jewel Case, Paper Sleeve, CD Wallet, and CD Zip Strip Mailer. If you need custom packaging, please give us a call.

| Artwork Design & Printing |
- Can I supply my own artwork?
Of course! We have several design templates available for you or your designer to download and work with. The templates also include basic instructions on artwork preparation. If you have any questions in the middle of preparing the artwork, give us a call and we'll be happy to assist you. Once you finish your artwork, upload it to our secure FTP and we'll generate a print proof for your review and approval.
Keep in mind that color prints from your inkjet printers may not display accurate colors. The color you see on your monitor may also be different from the final print color.
Please note that files not properly set up may result in an hourly rate for our designer to correct and delay project turnaround time.
- What type of files do you accept?
We prefer Illustrator EPS and Photoshop files. Artworks need to be in CMYK format at 300dpi. Your art should be on a separate layer from the template. All fonts need to be embedded or outlined to avoid missing font issues. Make sure that all linked files are included.
If you designed your artwork in Quark, please do File -> Save Page As EPS, and include the EPS file with your Quark files.
- What printing options do you offer?
We offer Thermal, Everest, Inkjet, Silk-Screening and Offset printing.
