What is the simplest way to set up a tv and blu ray system with two external spakers?

Can you plug the speakers into ports at the back of the tv or do I have to run them through an amp?

why does my blu ray player turn off when I try to watch incredible hulk blu ray movie?

How do I change my setting for Sony Blu Ray to view in 1080p?
