How do I convert the region of my Blu Ray to the American version?

I recently purchased an Asus laptop here in Australia. Its got DVD and Blu Ray in it. My understanding is that its coded region specific to Australia only. I am planning to move to America soon, and I would like to change the setting to USA setting. How do I do that? Even the computer technicians here are baffled. Thanks very much!!!

What is a good laptop to get if i want a blu-ray player built in?
